Five panda pointers: How to bring festive cheer to the office

Nov 21, 2016 2:56:17 PM

An office without festive cheer during the run up to Christmas…that’s a scary thought! Not everyone loves or celebrates Christmas but you can certainly get people in high spirits before the seasonal break. Here’s how…

1) Decorate the office

It’s time to dig out the Christmas décor, which means plenty of greens, reds and tinsel. Get the whole team involved and have fun with it.

Check out Pinterest for some clever ideas or have everyone bring in one decoration of their choice for the office Christmas tree.

2) Secret Santa

An office Secret Santa game is lots of fun. You can do the traditional names in a hat or use an online tool to do all the hard work for you! Make sure you don’t tell anyone whose name you drew and please make an effort when picking the gift…a ‘Keep Calm and Drink Tea’ mug would be appreciated by absolutely no one.

3) Christmas tunes

This one might divide the office…some people love singing cheesy Christmas tunes while others cannot stand the sound of them. However, it is Christmas so unfortunately for the naysayers the music is here to stay. Fairy-tale of New York? Mariah Carey? WHAM? They are all on the playlist ready to come out of hibernation.

4) Office treats

To keep the spirit of Christmas alive throughout December, make sure there are plenty of treats for the team to enjoy. Even small gestures will make all the difference. Why not try an advent calendar, allowing members of the team to open each door every day? Just don’t let them fight over who gets the treat!

5) Plan a party

What’s Christmas without an office party? Reward all the hard work of the past year with a nice dinner and maybe a few bubbles. Remember to let your hair down but not too much…work the following morning would be very interesting!

How will you and your team get into the festive spirit? Have fun, rest up on your Christmas break and tackle the January Blues in style!
