Five panda pointers: How to maximise workplace comfort

Mar 22, 2016 2:16:50 PM

Have you ever returned home with an annoying ache making sure it disrupts your evening? Perhaps your day in the office just didn’t feel productive or streamlined enough.

Sometimes it’s the little things that might cause discomfort to your routine and it’s good to monitor things you might forget about. From the way you sit to your work area to your physical surroundings, here are five panda pointers to keep your comfort levels up in the workplace.

1) Reduce the eye strain

Computer screens, presentation slides, mobile phones, tablets…should I go on? Throughout the working week, your eyes take in so much. It’s important to give your eyes a break every so often or you risk causing discomfort that will take you away from your work.

Having a quick break every so often will reduce the pressure you might not realise is affecting you at first. If you can use refreshing eye drops, that’s a huge plus! When you return to the screen you will really notice the before and after of your ‘eye rest.’

2) Perfect posture

Everyone is guilty of sitting in a way that isn’t always ideal. Once again you might think you’re comfortable at that moment in time but eventually you’ll feel the strain. Be aware of your shoulders, try not to cross your legs and look into ways to promote a comfortable workplace.

Wrist rests, lumber cushions and even testing keyboard positions will really promote long term benefits. No longer will you get home with a nagging shoulder or a stiff neck! Try it out.

3) Serene surroundings

That’s right; it’s not just physical comfort you need to think about. Put your hand up if you sometimes let your desk clutter build up to mega proportions? I’m typing with one hand right now…

Schedule a regular spring clean to tidy up your surroundings and invite a calmer, distraction free desk. Feeling like there is less around you to get in the way will send you on your way to concentration station!

4) A small comfort

You might think this pointer contradicts number 3, but it’s a far cry from the physical clutter that can disrupt your workspace. Be it your favourite photo, a plant or your very own mascot it’s great to have something that feels familiar to you.

You want to encourage a purpose of why you do what you do, so there is nothing better than a little home comfort to really propel that drive.

5) Embrace the outdoors

This one is simple…when you take your lunch break, get outside and enjoy some fresh air! It’s good for the mind, body and soul.

We hope you can apply our latest panda pointers to your routine and notice a big difference in the way you work and the way you feel!
