My adventure: The perfect panda internship

I feel absolutely honoured to begin my journey of work experience as a baby member of the Panda family! Although it was admittedly daunting to begin with, as it would be my first ever experience of travelling into London and working in the real world, I was ready to get stuck in and help wherever I could. Today has been my first day, and already I cannot wait for what is to come in the next two weeks!

Why am I joining the team?

Currently, I am a student in Year 12 of Sixth Form and studying Biology, Psychology, Maths and Economics. I am known amongst my family and friends as being the indecisive one, especially when given so much choice and therefore, remain undecided about a specific career for the future, however I’m constantly told that the world is my oyster, and am excited for the surprises the future might bring. I was thrilled to find out that Cranberry Panda were more than happy to take me on! I knew that it would be a place where I would learn all kinds of new things. I loved the business from the website and what I previously knew about it and its values. Marketing is an area that has always interested me so I was delighted to be told that I would spend the majority of my time with Amanda and Chris in this department.

I aspire to study Psychology and Neuroscience in the future and wanted to get as much experience as possible of the world of work before beginning the next adventure in life, University. I hoped that Cranberry Panda would teach me how to pick up new things and learn quickly, as well as meeting new people and getting used to the punctuality and organisation needed in a work place.

My first day...

From the second I arrived, Jonathan and the rest of the team were extremely welcoming and I knew that I was going to enjoy my time here, have fun and, of course, learn loads. Immediately, I was introduced to everyone and given an insight into their job and specific roles, which was interesting and also inspiring. I felt reassured that the stereotypical, boring work experience consisting of alphabetically arranging folders and cleaning shelves was thankfully not what I would be doing here! One of my favourite parts of the day was meeting Desiree, the new ecommerce career mentor at cranberry towers; this is a project that I can’t wait to get involved with!

One slogan that I came across on the Cranberry Panda website was “creating happiness one job at a time” and through the friendly people, colourful office and positive atmosphere, this became clear straight away!
