Key Account Manager

Categories: Kids, Shoes, Menswear & Home & Décor

Location: Madrid, Spain – Hybrid 4 days in office

Salary: Competitive base + quarterly performance bonus

Languages: Fluent Spanish & English essential

The Business

Our client is a leading European eCommerce business specialising in flash sales and off-price retail. Operating for almost 20 years across seven countries, they partner directly with major international fashion, lifestyle and consumer brands.

As part of continued international growth, they are expanding their commercial team in Madrid and hiring multiple Key Account Managers across Kids, Shoes, Menswear and Home & Décor.

The Role

Although the title is Key Account Manager, this is really a combination of KAM, trading and business development.

You’ll take commercial ownership of a portfolio of major brands within your category – developing existing relationships while identifying new brands, stock opportunities and ways to grow revenue.

This isn’t simply about onboarding accounts. You’ll need to understand what products will sell, at what price and in which markets, before negotiating the right commercial deal.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Managing and developing relationships with major Spanish and international brands.
  • Identifying available stock and new commercial opportunities.
  • Creating strategic growth plans for key accounts.
  • Negotiating price, volume, margin and commercial terms.
  • Using data to assess products, pricing, demand and profitability.
  • Managing different commercial models including flash sales, firm purchase, consignment and drop shipment.
  • Analysing performance and using those insights to inform future negotiations.
  • Finding creative commercial solutions when a deal doesn’t initially work.
  • Identifying opportunities beyond flash sales, including marketplace, media and additional services.
  • Developing new brand partnerships within your category.

What We’re Looking For

The right person will combine strong account management skills with a business development mentality.

You’ll be proactive, resilient and commercially hungry, but equally analytical and organised. Speed is important – stock opportunities move quickly, so you’ll need to assess an opportunity, understand the commercial potential and negotiate effectively.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • 5+ years’ experience across Key Account Management, Business Development, Buying, Wholesale or a similar commercial role.
  • Strong experience managing and growing important brand or customer accounts.
  • Category experience within Kids, Shoes, Menswear or Home & Décor is desirable but not a must have.
  • Strong commercial negotiation skills.
  • Confidence working with sales, margin, pricing and profitability data.
  • Experience within eCommerce, retail, marketplace, wholesale or off-price environments.
  • Fluent Spanish and English.

Ultimately, you’ll be given the relationships, data and tools to effectively run your category commercially – understanding the brands, products and opportunities that will perform and then making those deals happen.

If you’re commercially ambitious, passionate about consumer brands and want genuine ownership within a growing European eCommerce business, we’d love to hear from you.
