Ready to dive into the latest eCommerce hiring trends for 2025? Whether you're growing your team or thinking about switching things up in your career, timing can be everything — but let’s be honest, it’s rarely ever perfect.

Opportunities can pop up unexpectedly. For employers, it might be a sudden vacancy or a push to scale. For candidates, the itch for a new challenge can hit out of the blue. That’s why we turned to the people in the thick of it — the employers and professionals shaping the eCommerce space — to find out when they’re planning to hire or job hunt in 2025. The results offer a handy roadmap to when competition will be hottest and when the biggest opportunities might land.

When will eCommerce businesses be hiring next?

First up, let's look at the hiring managers segment from our questionnaire data.

When are eCommerce businesses planning to hire next? According to our 2025 survey, 62% of respondents said they plan to hire within the next 6 months — a huge uplift compared to previous years. Only 8% said they’re looking at a longer hiring window of 1 to 2 years, while 30% currently have no hiring plans.

It’s clear that most businesses are actively on the lookout for talent, which is great news for job seekers. This level of hiring intent shows renewed confidence in the eCommerce sector, likely fuelled by consistent online growth and shifting consumer habits.

When will eCommerce professionals start their next job search?

Will job seekers be looking when the iron is hot? Let's find out...

Over half (55%) of our respondents said they’ll be exploring new opportunities within the next 6 months. A further 8% are eyeing up a change in the second half of the year, while 22% are looking a bit further ahead, planning to move in the next 1 to 2 years. Just 15% said they’re staying put for now.

With such a high percentage actively looking in the short term, this could present a real turnover challenge for eCommerce businesses. If retention strategies aren’t already in place, now’s the time to double down — especially with more candidates open to new roles and the hiring market heating up.

It's time to get your eCommerce recruitment strategy in place

Looking at both the hiring plans of eCommerce businesses and the job search intentions of candidates side by side gives us a clear picture of what’s ahead in 2025.

On the business side, a confident 62% plan to hire in the next 6 months, which is a big leap from last year’s numbers. At the same time, 55% of eCommerce professionals are actively looking for a new role in that same period. That alignment suggests we’re heading into a busy, fast-paced period in the job market — great news for both sides. However, it also highlights how competitive things could get.

With lots of candidates on the move and plenty of businesses hiring, standing out (as either an employer or a job seeker) will be key. The next 6 months will likely set the tone for the rest of the year, so now’s the time to get recruitment strategies — and retention plans — locked in.
