My first week as a panda! What has Laura got to say...
After having an initial telephone conversation with Jonathan a few weeks ago, I was excited to come along for an interview to find out more about this exciting and unique company. My first meeting was with Jonathan and Sheena. They instantly made me feel comfortable and were equally as eager to find out about me as I was about them! We discussed the company culture/values and the key to becoming a successful panda. Sheena talked about just recently joining the company to set up the contract division for ecommerce, so it clearly seemed like an interesting time to be joining and I was keen to explore this opportunity to find out more.
My second meeting was with Jonathan, Sheena and Mary and was a lot more in-depth. We spoke about my previous experience and the future growth plans for the contract desk. It became very clear in my mind, that this was a company I could really see myself progressing in as they were so passionate when speaking about the industry they work in and are so invested in their people.
I then went to meet some of the team and instantly felt like I fitted in. They were all so lovely and had nothing but great things to say about being a panda. Decision made…I was going to be a panda too!
I felt so nervous and excited to be starting cranberry panda and getting back to the working world after a 7-month career break to go travelling. My family and friends kept asking me if I was dreading going back but I actually couldn’t wait to get stuck in to my new role and help build up the new contract desk. From the minute I walked into the office on my first day, my nerves faded straight away! Everyone was so welcoming and couldn’t do enough to help me. I felt at ease straight away. I had some one to one meetings with members of the team to discuss their specialisms and I was blown away by how passionate they all seemed about their markets and cranberry panda. Their knowledge and advice is going to be a real advantage to me when building my new desk.
On my second day at cranberry panda, we had a full day out of the office to attend a training session. This was not like any other training session I had ever been on. It was based around our individual values, purpose and intention in life and was just fantastic!! It was really interesting to hear everyone’s thoughts and I couldn’t believe how close we all were as a group. Even Craig, the man who was running the session, commented on what a great bunch we were. It was a brilliant way to break the ice and get to know everyone a bit better but also left me so inspired afterwards.
Who am I outside Cranberry Towers?
I have had a varied work history over the past number years as I have travelled around quite a bit. I was a match day hostess at Liverpool FC whilst I was completing my Business and PR degree, an events promoter for a music brand in Ibiza and for the past 4 years, I worked for a recruitment company in London. Initially I started out recruiting for social work but I then moved over to a Marketing & Communications desk that recruited into Central Government. This is when I realised how passionate I was about Marketing as a discipline and therefore wanted to pursue a career in a quirky, digital marketing specialist agency. I had a few months off to go travelling around South East Asia so I’ve had a nice break before getting stuck into this new adventure!
I am so excited to be a part of this amazing company! Jonathan really has built a fantastic culture and the amount of specialist knowledge held in the team is second to none. It is going to be brilliant working alongside Sheena to get the contract division up and running and I know I am going to be given all the tools and advice needed to get to where I want to be.
Thank you to the whole team at cranberry towers for making me feel so welcome in my first week!
