Panda Q&A: Our Data Analytics & Business Intelligence consultant Aimi
Our Data Analytics & Business Intelligence panda, Aimi Walker, takes the hotseat for our latest Panda Q&A. Find out why Aimi loves her specialism and a few more fun facts...
Tell us a bit about your specialism here at cranberry towers. What’s your favourite thing about working on this specialism?
My specialism here at Cranberry Towers is Data Analytics, Data Science and Business Intelligence across all levels from recent graduates to senior established professionals. The positions for which I recruit are very technical and usually require somebody with strong statistical knowledge and a background in computer programming and coding as well as analytics.
My favourite thing about working on this specialism is the constant evolution of the landscape because it means there are always new things for me to learn about and as data becomes more and more crucial to every business in a wider sense, the demand and urgency for these types of intelligent people increases.
What’s your favourite thing to do in your spare time?
My favourite thing to do in my spare time is to go to movie marathons, film festivals and outdoor screening events. I recently went to a horror film all-nighter in London to celebrate Halloween where I had the chance to see all the classic films which were released in the 70s and 80s before I was born. The crowd are always so much fun and have a great participatory atmosphere.
If you could have one super power, what would it be and why?
Teleportation! It would be so much easier to cut out all the commuting to and from places if I could just click my fingers and appear somewhere I needed to be. Although I might not be able to get a whole lot of reading and reflection done, I would at least be able to spend more productive time with my friends! Public transport can sometimes be so intolerable!
For one day, you are a Giant Panda…how do you spend your 24 hours?
Be the first panda to walk the length of the Great Wall of China. It would be amazing to explore such a beautiful country. I think I’d receive a lot of attention from tourists too!
Who is your favourite movie/TV character of all time?
My favourite movie character of all time is Ferris Bueller, purely because there’s nothing he can’t do and is in complete control of every situation. He’s a charming, Machiavellian risk-taker who has built a life-of-the-party reputation and personifies fun which gains him legendary status and respect, but he’s also complex and misinterpreted by the audience which makes him interesting.
My favourite TV character of all time is Fox Mulder from the X-Files. I’m attracted to his equally polarised cynical detachment and subjective devotion, as well as his sense of humour, quirky mannerisms and workaholic mentality. He is always true to himself, inexorably committed to the cause and his nickname is ‘Spooky’ – I mean, how cool is that?
