#PandaPounds: How much do online marketing professionals earn?

The #PandaPounds 2015 salary survey has given us a great look into the world of ecommerce so far. In our last review, we looked at the earnings of ecommerce professionals. Today, we're answering the question: how much do online marketing professionals earn?

Which job roles does ‘Online Marketing’ cover?

Online marketing is very broad, so here’s a quick rundown of what we deal with for online marketing roles:

  • Senior Digital Marketing- Managers, Heads of and directors
  • Social Media experts
  • CRM & Email Marketing
  • Paid Search
  • Affiliate Marketing
  • SEO specialists 

Has there been a change in online marketing roles?

Indeed there has! Using our two most recent surveys, we’ve been able to make some interesting discoveries

How much do online marketing professionals earn? 

Some areas, on average, have seen a significant increase in maximum salaries from 2014, as you can see below:

  • Marketing Executives: £20,000 - £32,500. An increase of £2,500 pa
  • Digital Marketing directors: £80,000 - £180,000. An increase of £20,000, what a panda boost!
  • Paid Search Manager/Head:  £38,000 - £80,000. An average increase of £10,000 for this role.
  • CRM/Email Marketing Specialist: £30,000 - £60,000. £10,000 increase from last year! 

Who is earning the same as last year?          

Some areas of online marketing have not seen change in terms of what they are earning, such as:

  • Affiliate Manager: £ 27,000 - £45,000
  • Digital Marketing Manager: £35,000 - £65,000  
  • Social Media Manager: £35,000 - £55,000
  • Paid Search Executive: £25,000 - £35,000

The roles above all remain unchanged from 2014, but the salary consistency of online marketing roles is still plain to see.

Have other job roles changed?

The panda has some good news; no respondents reported any decrease in salary from 2014. Now that’s a growing sector to get involved in, right? This year’s salary also has a new addition: Social Biddable roles, with an average salary of £28,000 - £45,000.
