Hello WAW+ fans!
Happy New Year! We hope you had a great break and an even better start to the year.
To kick off the year in style, our first WAW+ meetup will take place on January the 23rd! For those of you who were not at the previous event, you may have noticed a little plus...well, this year we are going to focus on community.
Not only do we want a more open environment for our attendees, we are also broadening our topics so our speakers can share their insights in their own way. We are not moving away from the Web Analytics topics we have become known for…definitely not!
These will remain a staple of the meetup and you can still expect to see them in 2019. Building on a strong legacy of Web Analytics, core topics of interest will also include statistics, econometric modelling, pricing analytics, and data visualisation. Basically, any interesting topic related to data science or analytics can be found at WAW+.
So, who is our first speaker of 2019? Meet Girish Gupta...
Title: How hyperinflation and food riots led to a global data platform.
Girish is a physics graduate and former reporter who has worked all over Latin America and the Middle East from a base in Venezuela. He undertook major investigations and covered Venezuela's crisis for the world’s biggest news outlets while writing the first lines of code for what was to become Data Drum.
Girish was on the ground in Venezuela for eight years. He will share his experiences and discuss how that economic crisis spurred him to create a data company.
We will also be officially launching the WAW+ Workshop, allowing the community to share experiences, struggles and successes around different topics. It gives you the chance to speak to others in the industry about things you are facing right now! For the first workshop, our topics are:
1 – Machine Learning
2 – Econometrics and Time Series modelling
3 – Tracking and Tagging
Which of these is most relevant for you right now?
Come armed with thoughts, opinions or maybe something you need advice on. Once the presentation is over, we will have breakout areas for each of these topics which you can join and get involved in!
So save the date and we hope to see you on the 23rd for a chat and a beverage! (Don't worry if you're sticking to Dry January...there will be soft drinks too!)
