It's day 2 of our 2020 ecommerce salary reviews! Today, we're focusing on our ecommerce specialism which covers ecommerce management, online trading and online merchandising.
We saw that there were some changes for digital marketing salaries...will this specialism see similar developments? Using unseen statistics from our 2020 ecommerce salary survey & insights report, it's time to look even closer than before!
We work on some fantastic ecommerce job opportunities here at cranberry panda. To reflect this, the data featured in this blog post will cover professionals ranging from junior to senior levels. Shall we get started?
Using the ecommerce salary benchmarks featured in the 2020 report, let's see what changes there have been within each job title...
We can see a few changes here. It seems those starting their careers in assistant or executive level roles have seen a slight increase in starting salary. This is incredibly important, as nurturing new talent is a great way to remain competitive in an ever increasing talent pool. Ecommerce managers have seen a slight decrease on the lower end of the benchmark however. The benchmark for heads of ecommerce remains unchanged, while directors have seen a significant decrease at the higher end of the salary benchmark.
The most significant change here is for heads of online merchandising. It seems this role has really developed in the last few years, showing the importance of a dedicated senior online merchandiser and not splitting the responsibilities between the wider team. So, it's not surprising to see a salary jump here as it will definitely attract the best talent.
Overall, there have been a few changes to the salary brackets of these job titles. Will this be reflected when we look at the overall salary changes for this group of professionals?
Have professionals within the ecommerce management, online trading and merchandising specialisms seen their salaries rise as a collective?
*Much like the digital marketing specialism, those who saw a salary cut stated it was due to their career choices. All respondents here said they chose to take a career sidestep to a new role or industry.
Our questionnaire was closed in February 2020, so it's important to highlight just how much has changed worldwide since the Covid-19 crisis escalated. We're sure answers may have been different following lock-down, however it's still worth seeing what ecommerce professionals were expecting for the year...
