Every year, we release our annual ecommerce salary survey questionnaire to get the latest developments on salary, work-life balance and much more! We have now launched the 2019 ecommerce salary survey & insights report, so download your free copy right now!
To kick off the many blogs to follow the launch of the report, we thought we’d share a quick overview of how salaries have changed over the last 12 months. Have we seen an increase across the industry? Have some people seen their salary decrease? Let’s find out…
Let’s begin by looking at average ecommerce salaries by age. Are those starting off in the ecommerce industry seeing a higher starting salary? Are senior professionals still seeing head of/director salaries rising?
Aside from the different age groups in the industry, we also look at changes in the industry overall. As you can see below, the average ecommerce salary has increased following a slight dip between 2017 and 2018. This is great to see, and certainly continues the positive uplift we have seen so far.
We asked our respondents what change they have seen personally when it comes to their salaries. Here’s what they revealed…
It seems there haven’t been huge changes when it comes to the individual salary changes in the industry. What’s important to note is that those who received a decrease did so because of changes they pursued. This includes relocation, moving to ecommerce contracting and taking a career sidestep to further their career in the long term.
The most common reason for salary remaining the same was that the respondent hadn’t been with the company long enough to secure a pay rise. Other reasons include lack of budget for a pay rise, they are expecting one later in the year or simply haven’t raised the subject.
To wrap up our annual ecommerce salary summary, we asked our respondents what changes they expect for the next 12 months. Are people hopeful for a pay rise or do they expect things to stay the same?
We have plenty more ecommerce industry insights coming your way throughout the rest of the year. Keep you eye on our #PandaPounds blog page, which will be updated with new content at least twice a month (but we like to spoil you, so there will probably be more!)
