How much do ecommerce professionals earn? Good question! Let's take a little look at the salary benchmarks we uncovered in our latest ecommerce salary survey (aka #PandaPounds)... after we've filled you in on #PandaPounds and our specialisms!

Here at cranberry towers, we divide our amazing ecommerce opportunities up into 4 different types of job categories: ecommerce, online marketing, operational and design (please note: this has now changed - refer to our latest salary survey).

In this, the first of our #pandapounds reviews, we're going to take a look at the current salary trends for ecommerce roles, based on the findings of our two most recent salary surveys

What types of roles do we categorise as 'ecommerce'?

Well, all of our jobs are for ecommerce clients, but the types of roles that you'll find within this category can include those that deal with merchandising, trading, channel management and online retail mobile strategy.

And now, onto the answer to our opening question...

How much do ecommerce professionals earn?

Below, we've listed the average salaries of ecommerce professionals by seniority level and specialism in 2015. We've compared these benchmarks with wages from 2014 to highlight any increases or decreases....

  • ecommerce assistants / executives: £20,000 - 28,000, an increase of £500 pa.
  • ecommerce managers: £35,000 - 65,000, an extra £5,000 pa.
  • head of ecommerces: £60,000 - 120,000, up from £60,000 to 110,000 in 2014.
  • customer experience managers: £40,000 - 80,000, a £5,000 #pandapounds boost.
  • mobile managers: £32,000 - 50,000, up from last year's £30,000 - £50,000.

Who's earning the same as they did last year?

From what we can tell, the majority of these ecom folk haven't received a whole lot of extra panda pounds (but it all still looks pretty good, right?!) ...

  • ecommerce director: £120,000 - 250,000
  • content manager: £35,000 - 55,000
  • senior online merchandiser: £45,000 - 65,000
  • channel manager: £28,000 - 35,000

Which ecommerce superstars are earning slightly less?

Although the average wage for the industry increased by £11,050, people working within these two areas didn't see a large boost in their annual income:

  • content assistant: £23,000 - 35,000, slightly down from £25,000 to 35,000.
  • junior online merchandiser: £25,000 - 35,000, a drop of £5,000

Can you increase your #pandapounds earning potential?

Of course you can! The sector is flourishing, and if you can display the right skills, experience, attitude and enthusiasm, there's no telling what you can earn. Remember: keep learning and building on your existing skillset.
