Web Analytics Wednesday recap: Personalisation fuelling recommendations

Jul 5, 2018 4:13:02 PM

Web Analytics Wednesday (or WAW London) returned with a bang last night! After a brief hiatus, we were thrilled to be back co-hosting this wonderful meetup with our friends at Lynchpin Analytics.

It was great to see so many new and familiar faces come through the WAW London doors, even after the dramatic football match the night before! Despite the world cup drama, the WAW attendees had nothing to fear…the pandas were on hand with refreshments to cool them down and calm their nerves!

Say hello to the pandas

Our Web & Data Analytics panda, Aimi, returned to WAW to learn fresh insights and say hello to the many members of the analytics community she has got to know. If you’re ever at a WAW London event in the future, find Aimi if you’re eager to chat about permanent analytics opportunities or new team members!

It was also great to introduce Sheena and Laura, who are busy building our contract ecommerce jobs division! They are already working with some fantastic clients on some exciting contract jobs, including within our analytics specialism.

Fantastic WAW speakers

There can’t be a WAW London meetup without some great speakers. We had two speakers take to the stage this time – here’s a quick recap…

Elise Maile, long time WAW attendee, was first to take the stage! It was great to see her ace her presentation on ‘Useful Personalisation’, especially since it was her first time speaking at the event! Elise offered insight into making your personalisation efforts useful, showing examples that she found useful and not so useful…we’re looking at you Amazon! (CONTROVERSIAL?)

Up next was Frederic Persyn, taking us through his presentation ‘Accelerating Product Testing with Bayesian Methods.’ It was a new topic for the WAW audience, having never been touched upon before, and it had the audience very intrigued! It was great to see the Bayesian method being applied to many industries (medicine, aerospace etc.) showing us it isn’t as daunting as it first appears!

Are you keen to speak at a future event?

Get in touch with the pandas and we can keep you in mind for future speaking opportunities. See you at the next WAW London! We’re already looking forward to the next meetup! While the date hasn’t been decided just yet, the event will be held in September on, you guessed it, a Wednesday! Watch this space. If you haven’t joined the Web Analytics Wednesday Meetup page, do it now and check out the #WAWLondon Twitter feed.
