Celebrate! Ecommerce salaries rise again..!
On April 19th, we launched our 2016 ecommerce salary survey report, celebrating #PandaPounds in style at Dirty Martini Bishopsgate. Our chief panda, Jonathan Hall, and our non-executive director, Ashley Friedlein, introduced the report, highlighting key findings and sharing industry insights.
The festivities continued well into the evening with cranberry panda martinis, tasty treats and hours spent taking selfies with our resident panda, Desiree (browse the pics on Twitter and on Instagram).
Over 550 ecommerce heroes took part in our salary survey this year, sharing their thoughts on, and personal experiences with, a variety of topics and issues, including salary expectations, team growth, work-life balance, workplace happiness and much, much more.
Let's kick off our #PandaPounds content series for 2016 by looking at 5 of the key findings from our 2016 ecommerce salary survey ...
Yes, the average ecommerce salary has increased again! Woohoo! In 2015, we saw it grow by more than £11,000; this year, by over £2,500.
That's right. 60.9% of our respondents who hadn't yet had a pay rise in 2016 were expecting one by the end of the year, while just 0.6% said that they believed their pay would decrease in the next 8 months.
There are still more men than women occupying senior level ecommerce jobs and falling within the £70,000 and above pay bracket. However, for the last two years, more young women have been entering the sector than men. This leads to the question: how will the industry look in terms of gender balance in 5 years' time? Will more women than men occupy senior level roles?
Last year, an overwhelming 75% of respondents had unique job titles. Although this figure has dropped in 2016, it still remains quite high at 48%..!
41% of ecommerce superstars said that they left their last role simply because it was time for a change. The second highest reason was 'needs not being met' ... there's more to come on 'needs not being met' very soon (watch this space!).
We're very excited to be rolling out even more exciting #PandaPounds insights over the next few months. Prepare yourself for a variety of must-read features, downloadables, and bite-sized social shout outs, covering some of the juciest topics in ecommerce...
