Having published our 2024 eCommerce Salary Review, we saw some promising insights. However, what do eCommerce professionals expect in the next 12 months? Thanks to the respondents to our 2024 eCommerce salary survey report, we have the answers!

eCommerce Salary Expectations in 2024

Knowing what employees want and deserve in terms of remuneration is vital for attracting and retaining talent. These exclusive stats will paint a picture of the current sentiments in the industry!

What salary increase do professionals expect this year?

In a year of economic uncertainty, are people hoping for a nice pay rise this year or are they in doubt?

  • Less than 5% increase: 44%
  • 5% increase: 17%
  • 10% increase: 25%
  • 15% increase: 7%
  • More than 15% increase: 7%

As we can see, a clear majority do not expect more than a 5% increase in their salary this year. While our annual review revealed that 61% of respondents saw a pay rise, these numbers indicate a hesitance to discuss salary progression.

How happy are professionals with their current salary?

ecommerce-salary-happinessPerhaps people are expecting a smaller increase this year because they are in fact satisfied with their current salary. They would be less likely to raise the subject until later if they are content. We asked respondents to rank their salary happiness out of ten.

With the average score just over the halfway point, we do feel this number could be higher. It shows that management must lead the way in salary discussions. Simply making them a feature in performance reviews can encourage employees and show them progression is possible. Speaking of pay progression, let's jump to our next exclusive statistic!

How do professionals rate their current salary progression plan?

ecommerce-pay-progression-rankeCommerce professionals have given their pay progression plans an underwhelming average rating. It is an industry full of growth and opportunity...so, why the low score?

There's room for improvement in compensation structures and career advancement strategies. Discontentment can easily grow if employees are unhappy with the potential to increase their salary in their current business. Furthermore, these concerns can lead to a dropoff in employee retention, with professionals seeking better compensation elsewhere.
