Digital Recruitment Trends for 2022

Written by cranberry panda team | Dec 20, 2021 11:26:03 AM

As a digital recruitment agency, our team always keep an eye on hiring trends within eCommerce.

As we approach Christmas 2021, it is safe to say there is some concern over the Omicron strain of Covid-19. Will this have an affect on early hiring plans in 2022? Perhaps we will see some rising trends become main stays in digital hiring strategies.

We thought we would share some digital recruitment insights that we think will be prominent in the year ahead.

Hybrid working to continue

Within digital recruitment, we have always maintained that eCommerce is an industry that does cater to remote working. In fact, there were some companies that had hybrid working in place before the pandemic.

So, it is not a new thing. It has just gained more traction due to Covid-19 and employees are seeing the benefits. In our 2021 ecommerce salary survey & insights report questionnaire, 78% of respondents revealed they would be requesting more working from home allowance. Ultimately, employers who don't offer this will not demonstrate flexibility to job seekers. Furthermore, they could be missing out on increasing the effectiveness and workplace happiness of existing employees.

Expanding teams to target specific skills

eCommerce teams are growing faster than before. Companies are recognising that beyond traditional eCommerce management and digital marketing roles, more skill sets are needed to stand out.

As we approach the end of the year, we are seeing this demand from enquiries and expect specific roles to become big hires for eCommerce teams. Here are some of the roles we expect to see plenty of in 2022...

  • Product Owner
  • Project Manager
  • Business Development
  • Data Scientist
  • Business Analyst

Digital contract recruitment offers lifelines

53% of our salary survey respondents believed the job/hiring market would become more competitive due to the pandemic. This isn't just from a job seeker perspective. Companies will also need to do more to attract talent - but what if some work is needed on employee acquisition strategies?

The digital contract recruitment market has been a huge help throughout the pandemic, both for candidates and clients. We expect more contract positions in 2022 that will help bridge gaps between projects and hiring drives.

Remote hiring - what's your approach?

Living in an online age, digital recruitment agencies can help you with difficult hires. Over the last year, we have encountered many hiring processes that had to be done via video call. Does this hinder the process or enhance it?

Hiring remotely opens up many doors for employers. You will potentially reach bigger pools of talent across more geographical areas, especially is remote/hybrid working is in place at the company. Furthermore, there has been a rising number of digitally savvy junior talent. Having these remote opportunities in place is a big talent attractor, so now is the time to make the most of it.
