When it comes to ecommerce recruitment, our 2021 ecommerce salary survey & insights report has all of the insights you will need for hiring purposes.
Our report is launching in just a few days, but we wanted to give some teasers about what to expect. Our respondents had plenty to share this year, especially after the events of 2020. It's important to use these insights when thinking about your ecommerce hiring strategy...a lot will change in the year ahead.
Ecommerce salary discussions are necessary
Our report is not just about attracting employees...it's about retaining them too. Our survey results shows a significant decrease of ecommerce professionals receiving a pay rise. This may not come as a surprise, considering the impact of Covid-19. However, it means many people are using this year to get back on track and achieve their goals. Many respondents listed securing a pay rise as one of their main goals. Do not shy away from salary conversations - people will want to have them.
Are you planning to allow more remote working for your team. We can reveal that 78% of our respondents do intend to request more flexibility when it comes to where they work from. The landscape has changed and it's important to recognise these sentiments as the world slowly returns to normal.
Putting wellbeing first
A huge challenge for management teams has been the wellbeing of their employees. How can you recognise a colleague who is perhaps struggling when there are no social cues to pick up on. You can only do so much on a Zoom call. A significant number of respondents expect to see more wellbeing checks moving forward - how will you tie these into your culture, hiring processes and staff retention strategies?
Career progression is more important than ever
When asked how important opportunities for progression are when finding a new role, our respondents scored this an average of 8.6 out of 10. The events of 2020 saw so many career plans put on hold...or cancelled altogether. This means clear career roadmaps are going to be a significant factor in hiring procedures. Candidates will want to know what is in store for them, what impact they can have and how this is a company they can remain in. If these are something you do, that's great! If not, the best place to start is with your existing team - do they have a clear picture of their growth in the business?
