Five panda pointers: The wittiest motivational quotes

Jan 28, 2016 1:17:10 PM

There are countless motivational quotes out there, some serious and some that we probably shouldn’t live by. We pandas like a good laugh, so we’ve collected five of the wittiest yet surprisingly useful motivational quotes. Can we look past the laughs and use these quotes in our work life approach?

1) “Life is short…smile while you still have teeth.” - Mallory Hopkins

The work life balance is so important. Having a social life and doing things you really enjoy will not stand in the way of hard work. In fact, it’ll motivate you to do better so that doing the things that make you smile will come by more often. Reward your hard work to improve the work life balance on both sides.

2) “Even if you are on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.” - Will Rogers

Becoming too complacent in what you are doing can sometimes be risky. You’re opening yourself up to becoming detached from the work routine, or stopping yourself from further progression. We are advocates of setting goals and achieving them, but you should never stop once one of your goal has been reached. Make the next big plan, full of great ideas and what you want to learn from the next step in your career.

3) "Life is like a sewer...what you get out of it depends on what you put into it." - Tom Lehrer

Sorry for any unsavoury images this might welcome…but not really because it makes so much sense. Feeling valued and respected is important, but do you think you’re doing enough to get this recognition? Stand above the crowd and go that extra mile and you will reap those benefits.

4) "If you really want something in this life, you have to work for it. Now quiet! They're about to announce the lottery numbers." - Homer Simpson

Ok, so Homer might not be a real person and his lottery dreams might be unrealistic. However, there is something to be taken from the lovable oaf. Have you ever felt some demotivation in what you are doing, and not sure how you can pull yourself out of that dip? Remember that your career opens doors to going on that dream holiday or achieving a particular goal. Keep this in mind while setting realistic expectations of what your role will bring.

5) "Change is not a four letter word...but often your reaction to it is!" - Jeffrey Gitomer

With every career comes a few road bumps. It’s up to you how much of an inconvenience they are. We all make mistakes sometimes, and it’s how we solve them that speaks more about our ability than the mistake itself. The same goes for big changes in our career journey; we can either run scared or approach them like a superstar. Which reaction do you think is the better one?

There you have it! We hope you can inject a bit of humour into your work approach with the help of these quotes. A positive outlook is a great cure to any negativity after all...
