Growth predicted for the ecommerce industry

Jan 22, 2016 10:48:05 AM

On Monday, we teamed up with the guys at EcomChat for the future of digital roles chat. We wanted to know, how is the evolution of ecommerce impacting the demand for digital skills? Is growth predicted for the ecommerce industry? Which new skills are important in 2016, and why? And how can companies fill (and avoid) digital skills gaps?

To complement the chat's 3 questions, 3 polls were conducted. These polls provided us with some great insight into the ever-changing ecommerce industry; here's what we discovered.

Ecommerce teams will grow in 2016

Twitter poll on ecommerce growth

That's right! You heard it here first. 74% of people answering the poll believe that their ecommerce teams will grow in the next 12 months. Happy days!

CX, UX and analytics are the most in-demand digital skills out there

Twitter poll on the most in demand digital skills

Yup, much like last year, our #EcomChat poll respondents believe that online retailers will focus on bringing CX, UX and analytics skills in-house in 2016. No surprises there, eh! We'll cover question 2 of the chat in more detail in its own blog post next week ...

Ecommerce professionals change jobs every 1.5 - 2 years

Well, not all ecommerce professionals, but on average, many of the industry's superstars switch roles every 18 - 24 months. This highlights the need for ecommerce brands to reallyknow their team members and understand their personal needs, career aims and life goals. More to come on this soon too...

#PandaPounds ecommerce salary survey results

The results of our #PandaPounds survey won't be available until April 19th (at our launch party), but it will be very interesting to see how the predictions made in #EcomChat match up to our survey findings.
