Let the Christmas campaigns commence!

With the ghouls and pumpkins retiring for another year, it can mean only one thing: the big Christmas countdown. It’s a chance for big brands to speak to the excited child in all of us, and deliver Christmas campaigns that grab our attention.

There will certainly be a lot of Christmas television adverts rolling out over the next few days, but how will brands approach the online platforms? One fun campaign has already caught our eye…

Forget School of Rock…welcome to the ‘School of Christmas’

If you’ve been on Twitter today, you’ll have seen many excited tweets about this. Lidl has become the first off the mark with its #SchoolOfChristmas campaign launch. What’s it all about?

Well, from this Thursday, Lidl will share a new Christmassy lesson each week to provide a hiccup free Christmas. From food suggestions, costume ideas and beating the fairy light tangle, it seems this campaign will be fun and informative. With an original hashtag and a fun theme, it seems Lidl has a great campaign on its hands. Plus, what better way to reel customers in than a voucher giveaway?

Is it too early for Christmas campaigns?

Let’s face it…the answer is no. It is never too early for any brand to get imprinted into the minds of excited customers. People will always have preparation in mind: who is having dinner at my house, what presents should I buy and the questions go on. There is no harm in trying to answer those questions ahead of your competitors.

While Asda was hot on the brand’s heels, Lidl has certainly made great use of social media to not only spread brand awareness, but to spread fun. To join in, check out #SchoolOfChristmas right here. Now to wait for all the campaigns to follow…watch this space!
