Our eCommerce Salary Survey: what does 2023 have in store?

With 2023 around the corner, it means our annual eCommerce salary survey is on the way. With so much changing in both eCommerce and attitudes towards work, we feel there is plenty of room for brand-new insights!

Each year, our annual report has been downloaded by thousands within the industry, including some big brands. The report is a great guide for salary benchmarks and understanding how happy people are in their roles.

So, what has made us think about new topics this year? With the cost of living crisis, increased remote working and other factors in play, there is so much more to uncover.

What to expect from the 2023 eCommerce salary survey report

We do love a good teaser when it comes to our report, so here are just a few of the topics we will look at...

  • The annual eCommerce salary review: Well, it is a salary survey after all. So, this section of our report will stay put. We wonder what changes have occurred. Has the annual salary increased? Are more people receiving a pay rise? So many questions and we cannot wait to get the answers.
  • Salary benchmarks by job role: Again, these are staying in our report. However, you can expect plenty of new job titles in the new report.
  • Growth in the eCommerce industry: We have always asked respondents about their goals for the year. However, we are going deeper this time around. What skills or roles are in short supply? What roles within the team are companies going to focus on? Finally, we are also asking what marketplaces are on the rise. 
  • How employees are feeling: In our 2020 and 2021 editions, it was clear that many people felt most comfortable working at home. While hybrid working has increased since then, a lot has changed. The cost of living means many people have considered a full-time return to the office. It doesn't necessarily mean they want to...so, we will be asking why people are heading back to the office. Salary is a big topic, so we also want to know what benefits respondents would sacrifice to secure a higher base salary. 
  • Diversity & Inclusion: This matters to our team, so we want to put a bigger focus on this topic. We have focused a lot on the gender pay gap in the past, but this year we are also looking at diversity in the leadership team and how minority groups are represented in eCommerce companies.

We hope the intrigue is starting to set in! Our questionnaire will be released in early January. Once we have collected all of the data, we will be hard at work to present it in our shiny 2023 report!
