Time for a change... but still waiting to receive some relevant, job related InMails? We share some must-read tips to help you get noticed by recruiters on LinkedIn.

How do recruiters use LinkedIn?

When recruiters use LinkedIn, they're looking for someone who has the skills and experience needed to do the job they're working to fill. They look at a number of factors: do their listed skills match those required by the job? Is their location suitable? Is their former experience in line with what is on offer now?

While sourcing candidates, not everyone put forward will reach the finish line. One role for one person, after all. But, looking at the above…

How to get noticed by recruiters on LinkedIn

If you're wanting to get noticed on LinkedIn, here are a few tips to help you boost your online visibility...

  • Spend a substantial amount of time on a LinkedIn overhaul. Many people forget to update their LinkedIn profiles, or don’t tell their story well.
  • When listing past experience, mention every company and all skills. If a Social Media Manager is required for an online fashion store, the fashion element will probably come into play. If you decided not to put in the part time college job at a retail store many years ago, the potential is lost. Everything you do is experience, even if you think it’s no longer relevant.
  • Make sure that you add all of your skills. Include everything, including any programmes and tools that you’ve used in your past. Recruiters often us these as keywords to find you.
  • Update your values and causes. All companies have a mission statement and values; they’ll want to know if a potential candidate shares the same beliefs and interests.

Thanks to InMail, you can reach out to people in your industry, and they can reach back. Make sure you keep track of your conversations. Being serious about finding a new role requires you to stay on top of the pile, and impress with your enthusiasm.

One last tip…

Even if you are approaching a job application yourself, always have your LinkedIn profile completely solid. Chances are the employer will check you out to get a better understanding of the bigger picture.
