Rules to apply to your Ecommerce website - are you missing something crucial?

There is no ultimate interface solution to creating the ‘perfect’ ecommerce website. All are different and the priority should be what your consumers / users / clients need from you. There are some must-have features that over 2018 provided noticeable results for new and re-branding websites.

Basic Ecommerce UX rules state:

  • Make the experience personal. Create wish-lists, save items in a cart for later, save last orders and allow customers to share their finds on social.
  • Customers should feel comfortable, be presented with a clear navigation and be able to access information and assistance easily.
  • Feedback is essential (good and bad). Give your clients the chance to reach out, present questions and share their feedback on the experience. Allow their opinions to be heard and show you are taking them into consideration. Even negative feedback – is still feedback.
  • Don’t overload customers/clients with information and options – find the sweet spot. You run the risk with any Ecommerce site to give so much that users feel overwhelmed and confused. Include the essentials (pictures, descriptions, insights etc).
  • Update your website regularly. Each time a user returns to your site there should be something new they can use. Whether it be articles, social feeds, products, services or company information. Allow your website to flourish and set its own trend.

Some things cannot be rushed.

Don’t forget to add time to consider accessibility, design and voice to your website. Whether your business is within ecommerce or any sector, it is important to establish your branding and identity to the public.

“Many online companies are so occupied bringing their websites to the top of Google search results that they forget their primary purpose- serving the clients.

Successful e-commerce websites use it as well. Personalisation is the easiest way to make a customer/client feel valued and important.”
