The Art of Living - Change is a process, not an event

Change doesn't have to be difficult. As it's clear if you need to make a change then where you are already has some difficulty. It's the thought of change that is difficult. Making the change is actually when things start to become easier. Providing it is based on what you want for yourself, it will create more fulfilment, and be more in keeping with who you are, even though it often feels so far away from what you'd normally do.

What proceeds is a great feeling and offers rewards for our bravery, rewards far greater than the ones we're getting for staying where we are, for the sake of someone else, expectations, conditioning or fear. A great measurement of whether we're doing this for ourselves or not is the momentum. When starting the change in something very challenging, at first it can be very daunting, then as you feel that ounce more of congruence, the momentum is created to keep it going, not to say this isn't challenged throughout. If the change is for others, you'll go through the motions but the momentum will not build, it will feel like an effort.

The change itself often isn't where our biggest reward comes from. It can often be about our respect for ourselves for taking, what felt like a massive leap. In other words, the feeling of the truth we are now living is a huge reward all by itself, which is why when we create change that come with difficulties, sadness or pain, the positive feelings/results make it all worthwhile.

You must make a 'Choice' to take a 'Chance', or your life will never 'Change'

All I've written above can be an uncomfortable truth for us all, as at different times in our lives, we're all faced with something we want to change with the contradiction of not wanting to change it! But you do know if you want to make it, it's that nagging voice that won't go away...that constant imagining 'if things were different'...that knowing there's a different way to be. Please let this be a reminder of the strength you have in you. To recognise a change, at some level, needs to happen, is your true ability and potential coming to the surface. I know you definitely have it in you! And I'd love to offer support if you feel you need it.

Your life changes the moment you make a new, congruent, and committed decision - Anthony Robbins
