Web Analytics Wednesday: analytics and UX

"Expect the unexpected"

That was Sameer Rehman’s opening quote at Web Analytics Wednesday: analytics and UXearlier this week. A creative front-end developer at Thomas Cook Group, he was first to take the stage, sharing insights about his experience with conversion rate optimisation (CRO) and user experience (UX) processes.

Lean and agile: what does that mean when it comes to UX? How does data inform decisions and allow you to understand what should be built next? And who is it that makes all of the big UX related decisions? These are just a few of the key points that he touched on, with friendly debates about test success and decisions regarding testing following his presentation.

Next up was Robert Isaacs, a retail strategist from The App Business.

"Start with research, not requirements"

Robert’s talk highlighted the importance of understanding the user’s current experience, needs and wants before doing anything else. He shared juicy tips and insights into each stage of the UX process, with an emphasis on the use of data to drive decisions and create measurements. His talk ended with a barrage of questions surrounding tools, hypothesis creation, prototypes and much, much more …

All in all, it was a fantastic evening with a great turn out. Big thanks to everyone who made it possible – the amazing team at Lynchpin, Robert and Sameer, and, of course, everyone who attended.
