Web Analytics Wednesday…with a plus!

Nov 29, 2018 10:57:09 AM

Last night, we hosted the final Web Analytics Wednesday of the year…and what a night it was! As always, we welcomed the WAW community with open arms for an evening of talks, networking and beverages!

We have been co-hosting Web Analytics Wednesday with Lynchpin Analytics for over three years – we have loved seeing this meetup grow each time we hold one, welcoming familiar faces and new ones too! So, we thought it was the perfect time for this meetup to evolve…introducing WAW+!

What is WAW+?

We are not moving away from the Web Analytics topics we have become known for…definitely not! These will remain a staple of the meetup and you can still expect to see them in 2019. However, the plus is to show how far the event has come, the increasing number of people it attracts and why it’s important to keep nurturing this fantastic community.

Building on a strong legacy of Web Analytics, core topics of interest will also include statistics, econometric modelling, pricing analytics, and data visualisation. Basically, any interesting topic related to data science or analytics can be found at WAW+.

We also want to increase the interactivity of the meetup – we have always had great conversations following the speakers, but we want to encourage interactivity with the speakers as they present too! There’s also a new feature to introduce in 2019 – the WAW+ Workshops! This feature will allow attendees to share any obstacles or problems, which someone else in the room is bound to have an answer for. It works the other way too…if you have a wonderful success story to share, do so in the hope that it inspires your fellow WAW+ community members!

We can’t wait for 2019 and we are looking forward to continuing this wonderful meetup.

About last night…

So, back to last night’s Web Analytics Wednesday! We had presentations from Nick Mottershead, Data Scientist at Lynchpin and Elliot Marsden, Senior Data Scientist at Booking.com! Nick spoke about boosting personalisation and conversion rate uplift and Elliot gave more insight into Booking.com’s unique, radical “Wild West solutions” to experimentations with their business model.

These brave men were the first to take on the new format – allowing the audience to interject with questions, thoughts and opinions! They handled it like pros! The energy in the room was great and it seemed everyone missed the event as much as we did!

We will be announcing the January edition of WAW+ very soon – join our WAW+ meetup page to get the latest updates and the chance to RSVP when the event is announced…spots go very fast! You can also get to know Aimi, our Web & Data Analytics recruitment specialist here at cranberry towers – she’s always around to speak about the latest jobs and hiring for your team!
