You thought Augustus Gloop liked chocolate? You haven’t met Marvin…

How did you come across cranberry panda? What were you doing before?

I was contacted by Jonathan some months ago but at the time, I was still at my old company, where I was recruiting in the UX/Design space so was not looking for change. He then got in touch some months later and although I had left my previous role, I was going to travel with my family for some weeks, so I gave him a rough idea of my return date and the rest is history…

What are your first week impressions of the company?

My first week has been insane! I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the team and bonding with them (we talk about the most random things – I like that). Everyone has been supportive and are always willing and ready to answer any questions I have. One thing I must mention is the fact that everyone is so different but we all have interests in common that creates some sort of bond but also strikes conversation.

I also came in with a role on my first day and another towards the end of the week from existing clients. This allowed me to be occupied in my free time (outside of training) and it was nice having something there to work on.

In short, it’s been a great first week and I look forward to many more weeks with the team!

Tell us a little about yourself!

I am a mix of everything from art to politics, history, music, fashion and some random facts that confuse people (lol). I spend a lot of my free time at museums and galleries, eating out in some of my favourite places or new places (I LOVE food!), strolls along the Southbank and shopping. I shop a lot and I find it therapeutic (it’s more of an addiction but we’re not going to talk about that). I am quite an active guy too. I play badminton twice a week and work out at the gym regularly. I am somewhat a “social butterfly”. Any reason for myself and my friends to meet and catch up is good for me (good thing is I don’t have FOMO).

I am generally a relaxed guy and I try to find positivity in every situation. I always make it a goal for those around me to feel at ease and ensure that I’m approachable. It’s a big thing for me.

As much as I try to have an active life, I also love spending some weekend last at home doing nothing. I use this time to cook, catch up on shows or watch movies.

What does the future hold for you in your career? What are your goals? (The dreaded 'grown up' questions!)

This is something I always find difficult to answer because there are many aspects to the job and my role.

What I’d like to achieve regularly is hitting and exceeding my targets. To me, that’ll show me that I’m doing something well.

Aside from the perks of this job, It is always rewarding knowing that I have changed someone’s life in a positive way and have been part of a process that has ended them up with something they want (I hope).

It is also a dream of mine to become one of the go-to people in the industry. This will only happen if I apply myself and educate myself about UX in general, the market and expectations of both clients and candidates. Each step/journey teaches me something new and I can only develop my keeping conversations going and being the best recruiter I can be.
