Within digital recruitment, the pandemic meant new ways of hiring had to be introduced...and fast! Are these digital recruitment methods now here to stay?
We are in an online age and digital recruitment agencies can help with difficult hires whatever the weather. However, will everyone need to adapt to a remote recruitment process? With normality almost in sight, you might say no. But, there is no doubt that remote hiring methods did deliver efficient results throughout the pandemic. In some cases, perhaps the successful candidate did not work out.
This is no different from any recruitment process - sometimes, it just isn't the right match after all. Despite this, businesses should really be looking at their current remote working and digital recruitment methods...because change is afoot!
Remote working is likely to remain in some capacity
In our 2021 ecommerce salary survey & insights report questionnaire, 78% of respondents revealed they would be requesting more working from home allowance. Furthermore, 76% have not yet returned to the office. Another 16% revealed they had returned to the office but were not happy about it.
This pandemic has changed mindsets... it's as simple as that. Employers should be busy adding remote working into their employee packages. It won't mean productivity declines and it won't mean hiring remotely will pose huge challenges.
Hiring remotely opens up many doors. You will potentially reach larger pools of talent across more geographical areas. Furthermore, you can tap into the rising number of digitally savvy junior talent. Having these remote opportunities in place is a big talent attractor, so now is the time to make the most of it.
Will there be changes to the digital and ecommerce recruitment process?
The digital recruitment process has already changed but how do people expect it to affect them? Here are some exclusive insights from our questionnaire and how you can alleviate concerns.
- 53% of respondents believe it will be harder to stand out in the job market. The ecommerce and digital recruitment space has always been competitive, so it's your chance to be more welcoming to a broader number of candidates. Develop remote interview processes that allow them to shine and show what they can do.
- Another 53% believe candidates will be more selective about what the roles they apply for. Once again, not offering remote or hybrid ways of working will be a big repellent! By offering a remote recruitment process, it's more likely to catch attention for the right reasons.
- 28% believe that more talent, due to redundancies, will make talent acquisition either. However, you still need to go through the process of choosing your new team member...more applications does not mean a quicker road to job offer city!
