That's right...there really is light at the end of the tunnel! Not only have our team been bringing on more roles across fashion, beauty, start-ups and more, we can see this increasing demand across the whole world...and the demand is here to stay.

Ecommerce jobs & skills: demand his risen

Even at the height of the pandemic, ecommerce jobs did not see a huge recruitment freeze. Now there is a roadmap out of lockdown, the ecommerce recruitment landscape has been supercharged.

In a study by LinkedIn, it was revealed that there was a 143% increase of those hired for ecommerce related roles in the UK. That number is huge and we can only see it growing. The grocery sector alone saw a huge spike in sales, as more people took their shopping needs online.

London has always been considered a 'hub' for ecommerce & digital business. However, the pandemic has also seen these opportunities appear across the country. Birmingham, Manchester and Northampton are just a few areas that saw a rise in ecommerce talent securing a role.

Digital content has played a huge part in keeping businesses and their customers together. According to this study, there was also a demand for contract and freelance digital recruitment. This is a great sign for ongoing freelance success, with this talent able to provide the skills needed to fill any gaps.

Has Covid-19 triggered a permanent shift to ecommerce?

Consumer behaviour has changed dramatically in the last 12 months. This reliance on ecommerce, for both customers and businesses, will likely continue.

Many businesses were not exactly ready for what lockdown brought us. However, they had to adapt and quickly improve their ecommerce offering. Now they are reaping the benefits, the only way is up for the ecommerce channel.

This means the demand for skills and talent is going to skyrocket as 2021 continues. As a candidate, who might be thinking about a change of scenery as lockdown comes to an end, it's time to start researching the skills that ecommerce companies will be looking for.
