As a leaders in the ecommerce recruitment space, we believe in the importance of keeping up with the latest employee trends. This not only helps when it comes to hiring ecommerce talent, but also gives ecommerce professionals visibility on how others are feeling and how other companies are operating.

Our annual eCommerce salary survey questionnaire allows professionals to share their sentiments. For this blog, we will be looking at the data from professionals working in eCommerce management, online trading and online merchandising.

Work-life balance for eCommerce employees

Working in ecommerce recruitment, we know how fast-paced ecommerce roles can be. Could this have a direct impact on work-life balance? The pandemic saw a huge boost for eCommerce too, so let's see what people had to say.

73% of eCommerce respndents are happy with their work-life balance while 27% are not. It's good to see more respondents leaning towards the happier end of the spectrum. Further to this, 63% of eCommerce respondents believe management can do more to encourage work-life balance. So, even those who are happy with their own work-life balance recognise a need for management to encourage it company wide.

eCommerce Management Employees: Happiness in current role

We asked our respondents to rate their current happiness in their role out of ten. Looking at the eCommerce respondents, the average is 6.5/10. While it would be good to see this higher, it has been a whirlwind 18 months with so much uncertainty and changes. It's likely this has had an affect on many people in the industry.

Overtime in ecommerce management

So far, it seems employee sentiments within eCommerce management are positive, with some room for improvement! Let's look at overtime within this specialism and see if this sheds more light...

  • None: 10%
  • A few minutes here and there: 18%
  • Half an hour: 1%
  • An hour: 13%
  • Between 2-3 hours: 32%
  • Between 3-5 hours: 14%
  • More than 5 hours: 12%

As we can see, the majority of eCommerce respondents do more than 2 housr of overtime a week. Has a lack of commute and more time in lockdown meant people are filling this time with extra work?
