For our next 2023 employee focus, the specialism we are looking at is...you guessed it, digital design & creative! Using our 2023 eCommerce salary survey & insights report, these sentiments will help you understand the creative minds of the industry a little better!

Are Digital Design professionals happy in their current roles?

What is your current job happiness if you were to rank it out of ten? Well, we made sure to ask this in our questionnaire! In 2022, the average score for our digital design respondents was 6/10. This year, there has been an increase to 6.7/10. While not the biggest leap, it is encouraging to see an improvement. 

Are digital design employees still working remotely?

eCommerce as an industry has definitely embraced remote or hybrid working. However, are companies now trying to encourage staff back to the office? It seems this is not the case quite yet for digital design teams. 67% are working hybrid, while 20% are fully remote. Only 13% are back in the office full-time. Perhaps this flexibility has led to an increase in job satisfaction. 

Have digital designers seen a pay rise?

Across the whole industry, 69% of respondents received a pay rise in the last 12 months. When taking the data from the digital design respondents only, 83% received a pay rise. This is definitely the highest figure across our specialisms...once again, it's an indicator as to why job happiness has increased!

Diversity in creative leadership teams

A focus on diversity & inclusion was an important addition to our salary survey this year. When it comes to D&I policies, leadership teams must lead by example. Do digital design employees feel their management represents a diverse workforce? We asked respondents to rank the diversity of the leadership team - and the average score from this segment was 4.8/10. Once again, the low scores continue across the specialism segments of our questionnaire. Perhaps this industry-wide sentiment is one that needs to be addressed sooner rather than later!
