Jul 6, 2022 2:44:40 PM

Within eCommerce hiring strategies, how often is work-life balance woven into your talent acquisition approach? Furthermore, are existing employees at risk of burning out?

The concept of work-life balance has certainly changed. Due to the rise of hybrid working in eCommerce, is it easy to assume this has helped people strike that balance?

Using the latest data from the 2022 eCommerce salary survey & insights report, it's time to find out how people really feel. Always remember that your team is at the heart of your employer branding. With more positive sentiments, talent acquisition and retention will improve.

Are eCommerce professionals happy with their work-life balance?

eCommerce has always been fast-paced. While professionals had always been in a position to work from home, due to the online nature of the industry, it wasn't always the norm. Now it is, are employees finding a better work-life balance?

  • 69% of our respondents are happy with their work-life balance
  • 31% of our respondents are not satisfied with their work-life balance

There is a more positive outlook on work-life balance in 2022. There has been an increase in respondents who are happy, which of course means a decrease in those who are unsatisfied with how they strike that balance.

When looking at the individual goals of eCommerce professionals, there was a decrease in those who said creating a better balance was a key goal. So, it looks like many people are on the right track!

Work-life balance: is it a priority for eCommerce companies and management?

We asked our respondents if they felt that work-life balance was a priority, not just in their company, but for their direct manager too.

51% believed their company was doing enough to prioritise the work-life balance in the organisation. This means 49% disagreed, which is very nearly an even split.

Looking at direct management, 74% said their manager could do more to encourage them to take time away from work. Time and time again, the majority of respondents believe management can do more to help employees strike a better work-life balance. With more remote working, are expectations too high?

On the other side of the coin, a 4-day working week is fast becoming a huge discussion across the globe. If management can implement this, would productivity and happiness increase together?
