eCommerce salaries - who saw the biggest change in fortunes?
Which department is cashing in the most? Let’s dive into the team with the biggest salary boost this year and what’s driving their rising value!
- 71% of digital marketing respondents saw an increase in their salary.
- 67% of eCommerce management respondents got a pay rise.
- 46% of digital design & creative respondents saw their salary increase.
- 60% of Web analytics professionals got a pay rise.
eCommerce management and digital marketing professionals are leading the way, highlighting the growing strategic importance of leadership and marketing in driving eCommerce success, especially as brands compete for visibility and customer engagement.
Meanwhile, 60% of web analytics professionals saw a salary increase, reflecting the crucial role data plays in optimising online performance and decision-making. However, only 46% of digital design and creative professionals received a raise, which may suggest that while design is still vital, businesses prioritise data-driven strategies and leadership skills over aesthetic appeal when allocating budgets.
Which departments saw the most team growth?
Which teams are expanding the fastest? Let’s explore the departments that saw the biggest growth in size and what that means for the future of eCommerce!
The stats show a clear trend: data-driven and customer-facing teams are expanding. A significant 60% of web analytics teams have grown, reflecting the increasing reliance on data to inform business decisions and optimise performance. As competition intensifies, eCommerce brands are investing more in analytics to stay ahead.
Digital marketing teams also saw growth, with 55% reporting team expansion. This is no surprise, as digital marketing continues to be a key driver for customer acquisition and brand awareness in the online space. Meanwhile, only 43% of eCommerce management teams grew, likely due to more strategic streamlining at the top, where leaner, more focused leadership is often favoured.
Interestingly, over half (53%) of digital design teams also expanded, highlighting the importance of creating visually compelling, user-friendly experiences to engage customers. While design didn’t see as many pay rises, the growth in team size indicates that creative skills are still critical as eCommerce brands look to differentiate through branding and customer experience.
Are eCommerce departments overwhelmed by workload?
Which teams are feeling the heat? Let’s dive into the departments that are taking on the most workload and see who’s handling the most responsibility. We asked respondents to rank their workload out of ten, with ten being 'very heavy'.
The workload data shows that eCommerce management and digital marketing teams are feeling the most pressure, both giving a high average score of 7.7/10. This indicates that the demands on leadership and marketing are at an all-time high as brands navigate competitive markets, complex strategies and the need for constant customer engagement.
Web analytics teams scored slightly lower at 6.2/10, suggesting that while data remains a critical focus, teams may be well-resourced or efficient in managing their tasks. Digital design professionals report the lightest load with a 6/10 score, possibly indicating that while design is important, the volume of work is more manageable compared to the strategic and data-heavy departments.
