Having covered digital design, digital marketing and eCommerce management, we turn our attention to the web analytics department. The web analytics team is crucial in eCommerce, turning data into actionable insights that drive growth, optimise strategies, and enhance customer experiences.
Is this important task taking its toll? Are web analysts being paid fairly? It's time to find out as we turn the spotlight on to the web analytics department!
Web Analytics salaries - have they increased?
In our overall salary survey results, 61% saw an increase in their salary. When looking at the data from our web analytics respondents, 60% received a pay rise. This leaves 40% who said their salary stayed the same.
When we asked respondents to rank their salary satisfaction out of ten, the web & data analytics segment gave a score of 6.2/10. This is a more positive score than the other specialisms we have focused on, though it suggests there could still be more progression in the next year. Will we see this reflected in the 2025 report?
Web Analytics team growth
Are companies putting more investment into their web analytics function? There are many key roles within this department, so let's see if teams have grown to reflect this. 60% of web analytics respondents shared that their team has grown. However, the remaining 40% told us that their team size has decreased.
While the growth indicates a need for new skills and a focus on data-driven decisions, the decrease suggests budget constraints or a shift toward AI in eCommerce companies.
Diversity & inclusion in analytics teams
Having covered the 2024 diversity & inclusion insights from the eCommerce industry overall, let's see what web analytics professionals think about this important discussion. When asked to score the diversity of their workforce out of ten, the result was an average of 5.3/10. From our respondents overall, the average rank was 5.8/10. Therefore, this is in line with the general sentiments of the whole industry.
However, this score could be higher. Given the critical role of diverse perspectives in enhancing problem-solving and innovation, a higher score would better reflect the value of varied backgrounds and experiences in driving comprehensive data insights and more inclusive strategies within eCommerce.
Mental health & well-being
The happiness and well-being of employees is always important. Do web analytics professionals feel happy in their roles? At the moment, a huge 90% of respondents believe they perform best working in a hybrid capacity, while the remaining 10% prefer to work fully remotely.
The fact that there was no selection for 'full-time in the office' clearly signals that employers should prioritse hybrid work options to enhance employee performance and satisfaction. We also asked the respondents to rank their workload out of ten. The web analytics segment gave an average score of 6.2/10, with 10 being a 'heavy workload'.
This score is moderate, not strongly leaning toward the heavier side. However, balance is still needed. Those who rated their workload higher reported increased anxiety, frustration, and declining career motivation.
