Recruitment insights from eCommerce employees in 2022

Working within eCommerce, Online Trading & Merchandising recruitment is no easy task! Employee sentiments are constantly changing, meaning talent acquisition strategies have to keep up.

Our 2022 eCommerce salary survey & insights report asked professionals to share their sentiments for this year. For this 2022 employee insights review, we will be looking at the data from professionals working in eCommerce management, online trading and online merchandising.

Work-life balance for eCommerce Management professionals

We all know how fast-paced eCommerce can be - especially after the online retail boom throughout the pandemic. Overall, across all of our eCommerce specialisms, 69% of respondents are happy with their work-life balance.

Looking at those working in eCommerce management, online trading and online merchandising alone, the figure sits at 70%. Further to this, 76% of eCommerce respondents believe management can do more to encourage a better work-life balance. It seems there are still many conversations to be had to determine how managers can help their team switch off.

Note: In 2021, 73% of eCommerce respondents were happy about their work-life balance - therefore, this has decreased.

eCommerce Management professionals - happiness in current role

Respondents were asked to rate their happiness in their current role out of ten. Looking at the eCommerce respondents, the average is 6.6/10. Overtime for eCommerce Management professionals

While sentiments so far are not overwhelmingly negative, there is clearly some room for improvement! Let's look at overtime within this specialism and see if eCommerce professionals are feeling overworked...

  • None: 12% (10% in 2021)
  • A few minutes here and there: 9% (18% in 2021)
  • Half an hour: 11% (1% in 2021)
  • An hour: 9% (13% in 2021)
  • Between 2-3 hours: 24% (32% in 2021)
  • Between 3-5 hours: 24% (14% in 2021)
  • More than 5 hours:  9% (12% in 2021)
